Our products are an investment rather than just a simple accessory or a purchase; Rollac shutters can easily pay for themselves through energy saving, insurance premium reduction and protection of people and valuable property. They are also a steadfast long-term investment in your home, increasing its value, providing family security, protection from damage while trimming maintenance costs.

Rollac knows that our roller shutters can provide an additional level of security and protection that mere glazing cannot afford, so we want to give our customers the chance to improve their protection levels with the installation of an efficient and robust roller shutter solution. We have assembled a list of important items to take into account when purchasing a roller shutter.

Performance
The first step in determining which solution is best for you is to identify the rationale for the investment. Ask yourself, 'What do I want out of my Rollac Shutters?'

Because everyone has different needs, we have designed a number of effective roller shutter solutions for many different requirements including; storm resistance, security, noise/light control, energy saving - or all of these!  Choose a shutter system that is most appropriate for the shutter installation and application in hand.

Slat Material & Construction
Depending on the material, your Rollac Shutter can be lightweight and perfect for light control, or heavy duty for security and storm protection. Rollac roller shutters are constructed from a series of parallel “slats” hinged along their longest edge on both sides and interlocking allowing them to roll up into a neat spiral. Choose from:

Extruded Aluminum
The heavy-duty option for security and storm protection. Extra thick double-walled aluminum will keep out the toughest of storms and potential criminals.

Hard Foam-Filled
These slats are filled with high-density foam that enhances durability and strength making them the ideal solution for residential security and storm protection, while our unique aluminum construction upholds the high standard of quality evident in all Rollac products.

Regular Foam-Filled
These are lightweight and can be operated manually to reduce purchase price. They offer good energy saving properties, privacy, shading, noise, and lighting control along with comfort.

PVC Slats - Lightweight, molded.
Lightweight and easy to clean, PVC roller shutters can match the PVC construction of existing window and door openings. They provide energy efficiency, light comfort and moderate resistance to storms and debris. They suit home owners who want a roller shutter to blend in with the existing construction materials and provide the most cost-effective roller shutter solution.

Color
Our designers have created color palettes that are a complementary match to most building materials, window dressings, décor and architectural features because Rollac understands that our customers want their roller shutter installation to blend in with the building and environment.

Attractive, customer selectable color finishes are available both for interior and exterior shutter surfaces and can form part of the integrated design of your home. To those who need assistance, we offer free expert designers to help you choose suitable color schemes for your roller shutter solution; we want to help you to enhance the look of your home both from the inside and the outside with our wide choice of colors and finishes.

Installation
Rollac offers full installation services that will cover every aspect of your roller shutter installation. We work with building designers, architects and construction managers to ensure that our installations meet full customer specifications, building codes and fire regulations. All our installation engineers are fully insured and highly trained and qualified. We aim for total customer satisfaction with minimum disruption and above all, a quality result. We want your home to look better after our roller shutter installation and go to great lengths to ensure that it does.

Do I have to choose Rollac to install?
No, because Rollac likes to be flexible in their approach to installation and will readily help any customers who feel they are equipped to take on such a task themselves. Our website provides many resources for those involved in all aspects of Rollac shutter installations.

We do however recommend that customers allow us to make the initial measurements.
The installation of roller shutters is very exacting and the accuracy and placement of the initial measurements can make a huge difference as to whether the installation is both successful and the end-result is satisfactory to the customer. Irregular shaped openings in particular require specific measurements to be taken. Once built to a certain size, the width in particular cannot be modified without reconstruction of the shutter and replacement of all the slats. Whether we install or not, we want every installation to be carried out safely and to a professional standard so we will help anyone to achieve those aims and offer our services wherever needed.

Shutter Operation
Automatic - Computer/alarm/sensor controlled
These are motorized roller shutters that are operated remotely from sensors integrated into the building or from a computer controlled security system. Intruder alerts for example might trigger closure of all shutters, bright sun may trigger others. There are many reasons where automation can be utilized including; interior climate control, UV protection, noise and brightness control, intruder defenses, and daylight/night-time detection.
Automatic - User controlled
These are also motor controlled shutters that can deploy simply from the push of a button, turn of a key, or the comfort of a remote control. Programmed keypads or many types of other activation switches are also available and can add security and functionality. This might include pre-programmed multiple shutter control enabling groups of shutters to be operated simultaneously if required.
Manual
The most cost-effective method is the simple crank handle that has been engineered and geared to provide a fast, smooth and effortless operation. These can also be added to motorized systems to ensure that a shutter can be opened in a power outage allowing access and exit during an emergency.

Pricing
Our pricing is structured from parameters that are dependent on the:

Square footage of the opening
Type of material selected for construction
Chosen deployment mechanism
Specified level of customization

For more cost-effective roller shutter solutions, we recommend that manual deployments rather than motorized options are specified. Rollac motors are designed to be extremely durable and maintenance free; but manual deployment systems can be just as appropriate in many locations and can reduce the cost significantly. Another way to keep costs down is have a partial installation of roller shutters on just the openings that are exposed to the prevailing weather.

Overall we want to help you make the most of your investment and our design team is happy to help you find a roller shutter solution that matches both your needs and your budget.
